Listed from the author's README. GameSkill has not run this end to end yet. Agent support and install steps are as documented by the author.

Install

Use the plugin in your project
Copy MCPGameProject/Plugins/UnrealMCP into YourProject/Plugins/

Then enable UnrealMCP under Edit → Plugins, restart, generate project files and build. Set up the Python server as described in Python/README.md.

Commands are copied from the project's README. Check the repository before running anything on your machine.

What you get

  • An Unreal plugin plus a Python MCP server
  • A UE 5.5 starter project with the plugin already configured

Good fit

  • Experimenting with natural-language control of Unreal

Not for

  • Production use without review: the last commit was in April 2025 and no license is declared

Overview

One of the first Unreal MCP servers and still the most-starred. It comes with a sample UE 5.5 project, MCPGameProject, that already has the plugin configured, so it is the quickest way to try the idea.

The project has not been updated since April 2025 and declares no license. For active development, look at Unreal MCP (EngineWire).

Requirements

  • Unreal Engine 5.5+
  • Python 3.12+
  • An MCP client
