open-game-skills

An MIT pack of about 190 SKILL.md agent skills for game design: combat feel, camera, traversal, world, validation, 2D/Spine and art pipeline, with a dispatcher and adapters for Three.js, PixiJS, Phaser, Cocos, Godot, Unity and Unreal.

Listed from the author's README. GameSkill has not run this end to end yet. Agent support and install steps are as documented by the author.

Install

Claude Code
git clone https://github.com/jammyfu/open-game-skills.git
cd open-game-skills
python3 tools/install.py --target "$HOME/.claude/skills"

Use any agent skills directory as --target. Add --copy when symlinks are unavailable, --dry-run to preview. Python 3.10+.

Commands are copied from the project's README. Check the repository before running anything on your machine.

What you get

  • 192 SKILL.md files: 169 discipline skills, 8 engine adapters, 7 asset skills, 5 2D skills, a dispatcher and a router
  • A dispatcher that maps plain requests (EN/ZH/JA/KO) to at most a few skills and a 'column'
  • Studio presets (Nintendo/Zelda, Capcom, Konami, Blizzard, indie) as columns, not clones
  • Engine adapters: custom, Three.js, PixiJS, Phaser, Cocos, Godot, Unity, Unreal
  • Rules with frame windows and accept tests, e.g. action-feel, hitstun-recover, camera-anti-clip, platform-jump

Good fit

  • Fixing game feel: floaty jumps, hitstop vs hitstun, combos, knockback
  • Engine-neutral design rules you can apply in Unity, Godot or the web
  • Designers who want an agent to reason in frames and accept tests

Not for

  • Asset generation; this is design and implementation guidance
  • Proven routing: the README says LLM routing accuracy and engine compatibility are not yet validated

Overview

open-game-skills is a large set of agent skills for how games feel and play, not for generating assets. You describe the problem in plain words ("jump feels floaty", "Capcom-like 3D fighter") and the dispatcher returns which skills, which column and which engine to use.

The design is layered: an engine adapter binds six primitives (poll_input, now_logical_frame, play_pose, query_hits, apply_knockback, juice_hook), a discipline supplies the rules, and a single column picks the variant. Iron laws like "hitstop ≠ hitstun" and "don't balance a monster by stealing player i-frames" keep the agent honest.

It is new and small (6 stars) and the author is upfront that routing accuracy and engine compatibility still need validation, but the content is substantial and MIT licensed.

Requirements

  • Python 3.10+ for the installer
  • An agent that reads SKILL.md (OpenClaw, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor…)
