pixelwright

/pixelwright

Other agents
python -m pip install numpy pillow
python skills/pixelwright/scripts/pxw.py doctor

Commands are copied from the project's README. Check the repository before running anything on your machine.

What you get

  • pixelwright (hub, holds pxw.py), pixelwright-make and pixelwright-animate
  • make: snap to the true grid (fractional scales too), clear background, palette lock (PICO-8, .hex, .gpl or neighbour sprites), orphan and outline cleanup, crop, wrap tiles
  • animate: frames made in code from the still inside region masks; the rest frame equals the still byte for byte
  • Gates: palette, budget, binary alpha, size, tile seam, loop seam, outside-mask changes
  • Sheets, previews and a click page for human review

Good fit

  • Cleaning up image-model output into usable game sprites
  • Idle animations for buildings, machines and props

Not for

  • Generating the original art (use ComfyUI or PixelLab)

About this skill

Image models paint things that look like pixel art: thousands of colours, a wandering block size, soft edges. pixelwright fixes that deterministically. pxw.py make finds the real grid, locks the palette, removes stray pixels and doubled outlines, and crops to an engine size; pxw.py tile makes edges wrap with no new colours.

Animation works from the still: you describe what moves, and frames are generated in code inside masks, so nothing outside them changes and every colour comes from the original palette.

It is new (formerly spritewright) with 22 commits and a small, dependency-light toolchain.

Requirements

  • Python 3.9+ with numpy and Pillow
