What you get
- SKILL.md: trigger, runtime setup, implementation and verification workflow
- references/pyxel.md: input, drawing, assets, audio and deterministic runs
- references/design.md: presentation and feedback for polished games
- references/strict-mode.md: broader coverage and retained evidence for release checks
- Claude Code plugin manifest and .mcp.json bundling pyxel-mcp
Good fit
- Retro / pixel-art games in Python with Pyxel
- Letting the agent verify a game by running it, not just writing code
- Game jams and teaching
Not for
- Other engines; it is Pyxel-specific
About this skill
pyxel-skill teaches an agent how to build a Pyxel game and then prove it works. The skill drives pyxel-mcp, which lets the agent run the game, look at frames, read state and test audio, so "it compiles" is never the finish line.
It is written by kitao, who created Pyxel, and it is spec-compliant with the Agent Skills format. Version 1.4.3 targets pyxel-mcp 1.3.1+, Pyxel 2.9.6+ and Python 3.11+. A strict mode adds wider coverage and saved evidence for release checks.
