Blender Developer Tools
25 Blender Python (bpy) skills plus 12 rules that stop AI agents writing code that breaks on Blender 5.2 LTS and 4.5 LTS: add-ons, bmesh, slotted actions, geometry nodes, baking and engine export presets, each backed by smoke-tested examples. Licensed CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 (code snippets MIT), so this page links to the repository.

What you get
- 25 skills: add-on scaffolding, operators, UI panels, mesh and bmesh editing, headless batch scripting, slotted actions, geometry nodes, procedural materials, depsgraph, drivers, GPU overlays, porting to Blender 5
- Game-asset skills: AI-mesh cleanup, high-to-low baking and engine export presets (glTF/FBX axis fixes)
- 12 rules for common AI bpy mistakes, shipped to Claude Code as a blender-rules skill
- Runnable headless examples and showcase props that run the full cleanup, bake, LOD, collider and export pipeline
Good fit
- Writing Blender add-ons and pipeline scripts with an agent without deprecated API calls
- Automating game-asset prep in Blender for engine export
Not for
- Commercial reuse or redistribution of the content: CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 forbids it (snippets and templates are MIT)
- Modelling by hand in the Blender UI
Overview
Blender Developer Tools targets one problem: agents writing bpy from old tutorials, such as bpy.context.copy() overrides (removed in 4.0) or action.fcurves on 5.x slotted actions. Each skill's contract is backed by a headless example smoke-tested on both LTS versions in CI.
For a full modelling-to-export pipeline under MIT, see Blender Agent Skills. Add MCP for Blender for live control.
Requirements
- Blender 5.2 LTS or 4.5 LTS
- Optional: the official Blender Lab MCP server for live sessions
